Dear Journal,
I am 9 years old now. My birthday was yesterday. I live with my mama, my papa, and my three siblings: Heather (13 yrs), Peter(2 yrs), and Rosemary(6 mths).
Today was going to be another tiring day as usual. I woke up at 4 am to go to work at the factory. My sister Heather and I walked there. We were running late. I didn't get to eat breakfast. I haven't in a very long time. Once I got to work I started to work on the dress that i had started yesterday. Someone was staring at me. It was the man in the uniform. He kept yelling at me because i was looking out the window. My sister whispered for me to quit it because we really need the money. Outside the window i saw some boys and girls, just like me, playing in the street. I felt emotions that i have never experienced before. I was angry and jealous of those kids. That man beat me with a stick for not working. My punishment was unfair. I didn't get my usual half hour lunch break. He made me work straight through it! My stomach growled. My hands and back ached. I wish i could go out in play like those other kids. But i bet they would stare at me. I have a hunched back and my arms aren't in proportion to my tiny body. I worked long and hard until Heather told me it was time to leave. We had been dismissed. Our shift was done. It's 6pm.
My days are so terribly long. I used to only work 10 hours a day. Since Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, I work 14 hours a day with only two short breaks: one for lunch and one for supper. Some days i have no breaks. Today I never got a break. My wage is only 20 cents a day, but most boys younger than me get 25 to 30 cents. I don't understand why. Mommy and Daddy say I have to work or we will be living on the streets.
Life is so unfair.
Love,
Violet
This is about Violets experience in the industrial revolution. She is talking about how unfair it is in the industrial revolution. Her main points were the long work hours, the unfair wages, the deformities and rickets, the nuclear family and the main was about Edison's invention that would help factories to last longer. She is always tired because she works for 10 hours a day but with Edison's invention of the light bulb she now works 14 hours and gets paid 20 cents a day, Life is so unfair on Violet.

My name is Theresa Factory. I am fourteen years old. This morning, I woke up at 3 AM to get ready for work. I discovered that overnight, my mother had gotten incredibly ill, so I had to try my best and wash her face with water, cook, and help her eat, for my family was too poor to hire a doctor. Due to my mother's unexpected illness, I was late to work on the way to the textile factory. Mr. Textile, seeing that I was late to work, grabbed me by my hair, lifted me high into the air, punched me about a million times, and threw me onto the floor, cursing mean and hurtful words at me, as if I was nothing more than an animal. He told me that I had to do the same 14 hours today that I always did, except now I didn't have the one hour break, as punishment for my tardiness. Elizabeth, who usually worked next to me, no longer is here, for just yesterday she had got her fingers caught in the textile machine, and now her fingers are all mangled and bloody, they were basically useless. Helen has taken her place, but Helen got beat today by Mr. Textile because she accidentally tripped and fell in the factory, prompting him to call her lazy and clumsy. As punishment, he made her walk up and down the aisles with weights on her neck so other children can see how there were punishments for being bad. I was incredibly hungry and tired by the time I got off work, for I wasn't given a lunch break. Walking all the way back home in the rain, I had to do even more chores at home, cleaning the house, cooking. After I finished all my chores, I ate enough to barely satisfy me, and went to sleep, only to be waken up in about four hours.
This is about Theresa Factory, like violet life is unfair in the industrial revolution. She always wakes up early and she works for long hours but her wagers are unfair. Her mother was very ill during the industrial revolution so Theresa had to do everything including to wash her mum's face, cook and help her eat, because her family was too poor to hire a doctor, Theresa had to work long hours and she'd always get punched at work and she use to get mean things said to her. Life was very tough for Theresa.
